Once again, following a quality start from Doug Fister, Jason Vargas turned in another quality start of his own. However, it was a home run off the bullpen that took the final of the 3 game series in favor of the White Sox and resulted in the first sweep of the M's this season. Thus, the M's road record falls to 2 and 9, and puts the M's in third place in the AL West, half a game behind the Angels and half a game ahead of Texas in a very tight division.
Franklin Gutierrez homered for the second straight game, while Kotchman doubled and tripled. However, when the M's loaded the bases in the 9th, Ken Griffey Jr. struck out to end the game.
Milton Bradley and Jack Wilson were out of the lineup once again. Wakamatsu hopes both will be able to return tomorrow for the start of the series in Kansas City.
PLAYER OF THE GAME:
Jason Vargas. When Cliff Lee returns it will be interesting to see if Vargas gets moved from the rotation when he's outpitched both Ian Snell and Ryan Rowland-Smith.
