It started sloppy, with Ryan Rowland-Smith giving up several home runs, and the defense giving up several errors. One play brought Jack Wilson out of the game and will leave him on the sidelines for at least the rest of the Chicago series.
It looked bleak, going into the 7th inning with the M's down 5-2. Miraculously, the M's managed to load the bases and with 2 outs, Jose Lopez knocked his first career grand slam into the seats of former M's closer, JJ Putz.
Unfortunately, Chicago rallied back, tying it in the bottom of the 7th, and then winning it with a walk home run hit by Andruw Jones of Mark Lowe. While the offense did show up, the usually reliable pitching and defense did not carry their own this game. However, tomorrow is another day and another chance for Doug Fister to shine against former M's ace, Freddy Garcia
PLAYER OF THE GAME:
Jose Lopez doubled his rbis for the year with one swing and has started to make noise at the plate. Hopefully, its a start of another productive year with a bat for Lopez.
