Game 11 Summary: MARINERS 11, TIGERS 3

Long live the king! The Mariners opened their first of three series against Detroit with another quality start from ace Felix Hernandez. Unlike the previous two starts though, Hernandez was not denied his first win of the season as he went 6 and 2/3 innings with 9 strike outs and only 2 walks, 4 hits, and 2 earned runs.

Though Felix pitched well, this was a balanced attack with the Mariners turning in 6 run 5th inning. Gutierrez led the offense with 3 hits and 3 rbis, while Ichiro, Lopez and Junior turned in multi hit games as well. Out of the starting lineup, only Figgins and Jack Wilson came up hitless, but Figgins did walk 3 times. All in all, a great way to start this 3 game series.

PLAYER OF THE GAME:

Of course, this was Felix's night. Good showing by the offense, Hernandez kept a usually potent Detroit offense in check.
