And we now officially have the first series win of the season, to put the Mariners at a decent 4-6 before the first break in action.
Jason Vargas, also known as theat guy holding down Cliff Lee's spot in the rotation, turned in quality start by pitching through 6 innings and only giving up 2 runs on a Jake Fox homer. He was followed by Brandon League, who picked up his first hold, and David Aardsma, who recorded his fourth save.
Also coming together was the offense that the Mariners hoped for. Milton Bradley drove in Ichiro and Figgins on a single to tie, and then it was Gutierrez and Lopez singling in runs in the 6th to put the Mariners ahead with a small but big enough lead to finish the game.
PLAYER OF THE GAME:
David Aardsma record save #4 and his been perfect in all of his save opportunities thus far, which have also finished each Mariner win this season. For him to be able to keep up this pace will be critical as the Mariners will more than likely have many small leads that will need the kind of finesse and protection that Aardsma has afforded.
